John "Mel" Dias is currently the Associate Director of New Productions for Albany Student Television.

John was named Assistant Director of Albany Student Television (ATV) in September of 2008 through May of 2009 and was Executive Producer for ATV's college-themed talk show, "ChitChat" last year. He is a senior here at the University at Albany where he is working on achieving two bachelor degrees in Communication & Rhetoric and Journalism while also minoring in Political Science. Besides his role as Associate Director of New Productions, John is also Director of Communications for the Student Assembly of the State University of New York and is a news intern for ABC affiliate network, WTEN (News 10).

Born and raised on Long Island, NY, John graduated from Sachem High School North. After having his very own radio show on his local student run radio station, John got the idea of going into the broadcasting field. He hopes to go get his Masters in International Communications and aspires to be the next Anderson Cooper or Matt Lauer.
